Member in Good Standing

Deadline for Enrollment

In addition to individual state and national event rules and regulations, youth must be enrolled as a registered 4-H member by January 1 of the current year to enter in any New Jersey state or national 4-H competitive event – including the selection process for National 4-H Conference, National 4-H Congress and CWF.

Member in Good Standing

Criteria:

Criteria Level
- Must submit a record book (Mastery)
- Attend a minimum of 70% of club meetings (Belonging)
Do a public presentation at the club level or higher (Independence)
Participate in a 4-H sponsored community service project at club, county, regional or state level (Generosity)

Examples:

  • National 4-H Congress criteria includes: “4-H members must have completed at least one full 4-H year, a registered member by Jan. 1, 2010 and be a member in good standing in order to be eligible to apply.”
  • Dog Bowl criteria includes: “Contestants must be enrolled in a 4-H Dog or 4-H Seeing Eye project as of January 1 of the current year in the county they are representing, and be a club "Member in Good Standing"
