Program Overview


During the Virtual National 4 H Youth Summit on Agri-Science, high school students will develop the skills and knowledge needed for the challenges facing agriculture, food security, and sustainability.

Program Objectives


Youth will:
· Gain knowledge and skills in agri-science related to the production of food, feed, fuel, and fiber - especially in the rapidly emerging areas of animal and plant sciences and technologies.
· Learn about topics including food science, environmental science, ag literacy and advocacy, ag production, and ag technology.
· Increase awareness of career opportunities and pathways in agriculture.

Summit Dates and Times


Friday, March 5, 7:00-9:00 PM
Saturday, March 6, 12:00-6:30 PM
Sunday, March 7, 12:00-4:00 PM

Program Details


High school youth interested in agriculture, environmental science, food science and related topics are invited to participate in virtual Agri-Science National 4‑H Youth Summit scheduled for March 5-7, 2021. Applicants must be in grades 9-12 as of September 2020 and be a registered 4‑H member.

Cost


The cost of the virtual summit is $75 but a scholarship in the amount of approximately $50 will be available to reduce the cost of participating in the summit.

Plan of Action


After the virtual Agri-Science Summit, participants will be asked to share what they learned and some of the activities they did with youth and adults in their county and our state.

Application


The Agri-Science Summit Application and Parental Consent Virtual Environment forms are due by February 12, 2020. The forms should be emailed to Jeannette Rea Keywood (reakeywood@njaes.rutgers.edu).
