The "Life on the Farm" project was designed to give people a glimpse of what life is like living on a farm. The main component of the project is an interactive display that can be seen at county fairs and borrowed by groups to help educate youth and adults about life on the farm. The theme for the displays changes annually. The first year, the display took a historical look at life on the farm. Participants were asked to identify various farm tools that were used when 4-H started in 1902. Then participants learned how the tool is used and how math and science concepts are involved in the use of the tool. This Web site allows you to test your own knowledge of these farm tools. In future years, the theme may relate to breeds of animals on the farm, cost of farming, or even biotechnology on the farm. Be sure to check back for information about the theme for next year's display. |
