Borrow the Display

The Life on the Farm project consist primarily of an interactive display which allows youth and adults to learn about a part of farm life in New Jersey. There are four identical displays that may be borrowed for periods up to one week. The following is information about borrowing the displays.

Who may borrow the displays?

Any group may request to use the displays, however, the county fairs will be given first priority during the summer months.

What is the cost for borrowing the displays?

There is not a cost to use the displays. However, non-Cooperative Extension related groups, will be asked to provide a $200 deposit when picking up the display. The deposit will be returned in full when the display is returned in good condition. The deposit will cover any damage or loss to the display. The person borrowing the display is responsible for the cost of transporting the display.

How do you reserve a display?

Ideally, you should request the display approximately 2 months prior to your event. When you reserve the display, please reserve it for the actual number of days you will be using the display plus a day prior and after to transport the display back to the storage location.

To reserve a display, please contact Kevin Mitchell, Sussex County 4-H Agent or Annette Devitt, Salem County 4-H Agent. Their contact information is listed below.

Where are the displays located?

Currently, there are 2 identical displays located at the Sussex County office of Rutgers Cooperative Extension in Newton, NJ and 2 identical displays located at the Salem County office of Rutgers Cooperative Extension in Woodstown, N.J.With enough notice, arrangements can be made to pick-up and return the display to Cook College in New Brunswick.

How big is the display?

The display is designed to take up approximately a 10' x 10' space. The display includes a 7' tall x 8' wide backdrop. The backdrop is vinyl with grommets so it can be tied to posts or attached to a wall. The group borrowing the display will need to provide 2 tables. The display includes two table top display boards and table coverings. The display comes in a large plastic container with wheels, a carrying case for the display boards, and the backdrop is rolled. The display can easily be transported in an average size car.

Who sets up the display?

The set-up for the display is the responsibility of the person/group borrowing the display. The display comes with basic set-up instructions. The set-up of the display is pretty simple and takes less than a half an hour to assemble.

Will there need to be someone to "man" the display?

The display is designed to be self-explanatory so people can guide themselves through the activities. Depending on where the display will be used, it may be good to have someone periodically check the items in the display.
