The New Jersey 4-H Dairy Judging Contest is a competition for youth in grades 4-13. Youth need not be a member of a 4-H Dairy Club, but do need to be registered as a 4-H Dairy Project member in their county. Youth utilize their evaluation and public speaking skills to rank or rate individual animals in a class and then defend their ranking or placing in an oral presentation to a Judging official. Youth are scored based on how well they do in placing the animals in rank order and how well they defend their decision during the oral presentation of their reasons. Some years we are able to send a group of high placing individuals from the state competition to regional or national 4-H Dairy Judging competitions.

All youth must be registered as 4-H members in good standing in their respective counties as of January 1. County 4-H Staff must sign registration to verify this!
